Xiashi traveled through the Tang Dynasty, and gained Li Shimin's attention for helping Li Shimin eradicate Li Jiancheng. Later, he was reused by Li Shimin. Xiashi began to help Li Shimin clear out the domestic aristocratic families, build colleges, papermaking, printing, and train scholars. After the treasury was replenished, Xiashi led his army to conquer the Turks. Xue Yantuo and Yinan Khan included the grasslands and created an unprecedented prosperous Tang Dynasty.
