Blood Cross: Ashen Earth

[Hardcore] [Blood Cross] [No Female Lead] [Doomsday] [No System] [Not a Power Fantasy] [Characters Don’t Lose Their Intelligence]

This novel casts aside the usual power-fantasy tropes. In a gritty, realistic style, it focuses on the struggle to survive and the conflict of human nature after civilization collapses. It is more than a record of survival in Doomsday: it is an ultimate question about what makes us human. When the whole world descends into madness, violence becomes commonplace, and holding on to your principles means death, should we still insist on being human? In a world reduced to scorched earth, are the last glimmers of humanity shackles that keep people from surviving, or the final embers of human civilization?

This book confronts violence and darkness in their most extreme forms. It neither shies away from humanity’s baseness and selfishness nor romanticizes suffering. Through the most realistic details of survival, it lays bare the depths of human depravity and the faint glimmers of hope amid the ashes.
