Five-year-old Song Xiaoyu is abused by his stepmother. After running away from home, he is rescued by a cultivator from the Qingyun Sect and brought back to the sect. Though he seems to be a good-for-nothing with no spiritual roots, he unexpectedly awakens the ability to read minds. With the dormant remnant soul of a Azure Dragon inside him, he embarks on an unconventional path of cultivation.
After joining the sect, Xiaoyu starts out as its lowliest herb boy. Thanks to his mind-reading ability and quick wits, he escapes danger time and again. He secretly cultivates an ancient Chaos technique and concocts spiritual pills that surpass their grade, stunning everyone at the alchemy tournament. Facing hostility from his fellow disciples, assassins from an evil cult, and the sealed demon dragon beneath the Blackwater Abyss, this five-year-old uses composure and ruthlessness beyond his years to plan each move and triumph over stronger foes.
At last, in the outer sect tournament, he manifests the phantom image of a Chaos Azure Lotus and defeats his strongest opponent, astounding the entire sect. The hidden dragon has emerged from the abyss, and his legend is only just beginning.
