Shen Mo transmigrated and woke to find himself in a black robe, surrounded by a group of lunatics swearing to “sacrifice their lives to summon an evil god.”
He looked down at the number on his chest: 9527.
Then he looked up at the higher-ups handing out the “sacrifice list.”
He quietly lowered the hand he had halfway raised.
In this evil-god cult full of total lunatics, Shen Mo had only one goal: survive, then switch sides.
But before he could switch sides, he had to make sure the Night's Watch didn't mistake him for an evil-god spy and chop him down on sight.
So began his six-year undercover career:
On the surface, he was the Dark Abyss Organization's most obsequious cannon fodder, eagerly raising his hand at meetings and shouting the slogans louder than anyone.
In reality, he slipped notes into the Night's Watch's vehicles, “accidentally” leaked coordinates before operations, and hid vital intelligence in toilet cisterns for them to retrieve.
He saw Zhao Kongcheng charge into a sea of flames and never come back out.
He saw Leng Xuan die, and joined the crowd in shouting, “Good riddance,” while his fingernails dug into his palms.
He saw the Nightfall Squad scatter. At a villain's victory party, he silently drank an entire bottle of liquor.
From the villains' side, he witnessed the stories of every hero.
Then, over six years, he secretly wrote them all down in a battered notebook.
Years later, a book was published called Under the Nightfall.
Someone asked the author, “You've written so many stories about heroes. What about your own?”
He smiled.
“My story is that I survived long enough to write all these stories.”
