Chen Wen, a public examination lecturer, traveled through time and became a poor scholar. He founded Zhizhi Academy and taught Gu Ci, Zhang Chengzong and other disciples with logic teaching and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. He implemented methods such as wrong question collection and weekly examinations, and all his students ranked among the top three in the county examination, the top five in the government examination, and all six students in the college examination ranked in the top ten. Chen Wen promoted the pilot tax reform in Ningyang and won the support of the county magistrate Sun Zhigao and the prefect Li Deyu. He was also appreciated by the imperial envoy Lu Bingqian. His teaching philosophy and new policies achieved remarkable results, and he eventually became a well-recognized famous teacher.
