A Substitute Bride: The Young Master's Darling

The story takes place in the late 1970s. Qiao Qianqian, an orphan, is forced by her biased adoptive parents to marry into the Mo family in the provincial capital in place of her spoiled younger sister. Her groom is Mo Sihan, who is rumored to have been born mentally disabled. While fleeing, she accidentally falls off a cliff and gains the legacy of an ancestral master who cultivated medicine, the Dao, and martial arts. From then on, she changes her fate.

After marrying into the Mo family, Qiao Qianqian keeps her abilities hidden and quietly treats Mo Sihan with her medical skills. To her surprise, she discovers that he is not really disabled at all: he has been pretending in order to escape his family's plots and the political maelstrom. From mutual suspicion and putting on an act together to gradually opening their hearts to each other, love grows between them after their marriage in the course of everyday life.

Relying on her inherited medical skills to save lives, Qiao Qianqian transforms from a village girl forced into a substitute marriage and bullied by everyone into a renowned master physician. She also tears into her exploitative birth family and resolves the Mo family's troubles, both within and without. With her healing, Mo Sihan fully awakens. Together, they uncover the truth about their pasts and the injustice that befell them years ago. As the tide of reform and opening up sweeps across the country, they establish medical clinics and pharmaceutical factories to heal the people. Through the changing times, they protect one another and become each other's most precious treasure, sharing a peaceful and prosperous life.
