I'm a Corrupt Official in the Imperial Capital

A corrupt official? Bah! Even a dog wouldn’t

Do it! If a dog won’t, I will. I’m going to be a corrupt official.

Being corrupt is great! You get money and power.

Han Yin has just become the new top third-place graduate. How can he enter the officialdom without someone powerful backing him?

So he stands tall and asks the emperor, “Would you like me to become your very own powerful minister?”

The emperor stares at Han Yin for a long moment, then finally says, “I would!”

And so Han Yin begins his rise to power.

He pockets bribes from all over the country. There’s nothing shameful about lining your pockets. Whether he does the job or not depends on his mood. After all, he’s a corrupt official, and breaking promises is part of the business.

The emperor pretends not to notice, since he gets the biggest cut of those bribes. Alas, when you take someone’s money, you have to do what they want. Nearly half the revenue in the national treasury depends on those bribes!
