Kado is the last surviving member of a vampire clan that lived for a thousand years. His family was wiped out when he was young, forcing him to wander the mortal world. To take revenge, he mastered the progenitor’s forbidden art, “Blood River,” which lets him devour the defeated and make their power his own. Over the Eastern Sea, he helped the Tang Dynasty’s God of War, Li Jing, break the Penglai Immortal Formation, only to have the Celestial Emperor plant an “immortal seed” in him. It would not take his life. Instead, it used the lure of power to draw him, step by step, into serving the immortal realm. Within a hundred years, he would either become an immortal slave or shatter the heavens.
Kado chose a third path: travel the mortal world, unite the myriad races, and draw on Li Shimin’s imperial aura to rally the elves, dwarves, and dragons. He lay low for a hundred years, all for the day he could storm the Nine Heavens. The day the Blood River swallowed the sky would be the day the immortal realm fell.
