Introduction to the work "Wildfire and Spring"
Lin Yuan, 38 years old, fire captain. His daughter died, his marriage broke up, his mother was sent away - he spent three years building a wall. Inside the wall is himself, outside the wall is everyone.
This is a novel about "how sober people learn to live again."
The story begins with a fire. Lin Yuan stood in front of the ruins and smoked, with the charred building behind him, and in his heart was an earlier fire - the beating numbers in his daughter's ICU, his ex-wife's words "You are too rational and cold-blooded", and his mother's silent tears when she was sent away. He thought the wall he built was strong enough until Su Nian wiped a streak of blue on his face and asked him: "Have you put yourself into the frame?"
Four women came into his life. Su Nian is the feeling itself, using paint and intuition to tear open the cracks in his wall; Zhou Yu is the mirror image, and he and he are stuck in the deadlock of "who breaks the equality first"; He Xin is the door, standing outside the wall and asking softly: "Is there a place where people can come in?" Chen Yue is the gaze from above, telling him: "We are two complete people. This is good, but also very cold."
They taught him different things and then went their separate ways.
It was his son Yuanyuan's hands that finally made him learn to be happy. When that little hand held his, he said for the first time: "I am happy when I am with you."
With a structure of 42 sections, the novel lays out the process of a man rebuilding himself from the emotional ruins. It's not about "how to be cured" but "how to stay alive" in sobriety. On those burned ruins, weeds will grow back - not the way they were before.
