Lin Lang has only three things on her list of life goals: graduate, lie flat, and go home to farm.
To escape the suffocating family she grew up in, she cuts her hair, binds her chest, and uses the gender-neutral name "Lin Lang" to sneak into the nation's hottest boy-band audition show, Starlight Sequence.
Her plan is foolproof: coast, slack off, act antisocial, get eliminated in the first round, then pack up and go home.
But fate has a huge joke in store for her.
The three roommates sharing her dorm are a trust-fund heir with powerful connections, a gifted and aloof artist, and a rebellious underground dance king. Even worse, on the eve of their first live performance, these three darlings of heaven each uncover her biggest secret in a different way.
The cold-blooded trust-fund heir curls his lips in amusement. "This game just got interesting."
A glint flashes in the gentle artist's eyes. "Keeping you safe might earn me an even bigger bargaining chip."
The hot-tempered dance king corners her against the wall, his cheeks flushed. "...I'll protect you from now on."
From that day on, Lin Lang's dream of getting eliminated in the first round is utterly shattered.
She's forced to shine onstage, forced to accept the public's attention, and forced to inch toward the Center's throne, the very thing she fears most. Every advancement is a nerve-racking gamble; every cheer feels like the noose of her lies tightening around her neck.
And in the corners beyond the reach of the spotlights, three pairs of eyes keep her firmly in their sights, whether to control, scheme, or protect her.
As her web of lies grows ever larger, will she claim a crown forged from her secrets, or will the weight of her disguise crush her to pieces?
