In the 17th year of the Republic of China, in Weizikeng Village in eastern Henan, a poor boy Wang Gensheng rescued a rich girl Chen Xiu'e. The two had a secret love but were blocked by their family background. Chen's father forced his daughter to marry the leader of a warlord in order to cling to the powerful. Xiu'e hanged herself to death in despair, and her resentment gathered and turned into a demon, bloodbathed the Chen family, and then brought disaster to the whole village. The villagers were in panic all day long, but fortunately Taoist priest Xuanqing came to fight with them to calm down the souls and save the resentful souls, and finally put an end to the terrible evil caused by the forced marriage.
