[Two male leads + VR esports + ancient swordsman x retired esports legend]
Yun Zhiyi, a top swordsman of the martial world, opens his eyes to find himself a modern college student.
In the full-dive online game Dust and Clamor, he meets someone whose aim is absurdly good. Every time Yun Zhiyi charges into a crowd, bullets precisely cut off the opponents' movement. When that person reloads, Yun Zhiyi has to step forward and cover him.
Later, they form a team and fight their way from the city tournament to the national championship.
On the day they win the title, Gu Chenyuan asks him, “Why do you always take the hit for me?”
Yun Zhiyi thinks for a moment and says, “I'm used to it.”
Gu Chenyuan smiles. It's the first time Yun Zhiyi has seen him smile.
“Then from now on,” Gu Chenyuan says, “keep protecting me.”
Yun Zhiyi nods.
What he doesn't know is that Gu Chenyuan is thinking:
For the rest of our lives.
