Do I Really Have to Keep Dying?

[Terraria fanfiction] [Comedy] [No saintly protagonist] [Monster butcher]

Yu Du accidentally got his neck stuck in a drawer. After going without air, he let his imagination run wild, growing more frightened and panicked by the minute, until he somehow died for no apparent reason. The goddess Salem summoned him and begged him to save a world.

“You mean me?”

“I can give you unlimited resurrections, and you can freely change your respawn point!”

“...Do I really have to die?”

Yu Du had expected to meet lots of friends and sail smoothly through life with the golden finger the goddess gave him.

But only the first half of that promise came true.

Hardships and obstacles awaited him from the moment he set out, one after another.

“What do you mean the whole journey takes an hour, but I have to die in place over 1,300 times just to make fifty seconds of progress, waiting for the cooldown each time?”

“What do you mean I'm already in debt before I've even reached my workplace?”

And when he arrived, the wonderful future he'd imagined was nowhere to be found.

Yu Du died of excess. The culprit: a harpy!

Yu Du's insides became his outsides. The culprit: a zombie!

Yu Du was smashed to pieces. The culprit: a boulder!

Yu Du discovered gravity!

Yu Du sleeps with the fishes!

Yu Du free-falls and elbows the ground!

“Do I really have to keep dying forever?”
