Jingyao, the Demon Empress

On Xiangyang Street in the eastern part of the capital of the Tianyuan Dynasty, the busiest street in the city, stood a large mansion. It seemed utterly out of place amid the bustle. Its gates were shut tight, giving it an air of deep quiet. People who lived on the street often stopped to stare, hoping to catch a glimpse of what lay beyond those closed gates.

The elderly families who had lived there for generations often said, “There’s something strange about that mansion. It was already there in my grandfather’s time. Wars and changes of dynasty alike have never affected it in the slightest. Plenty have tried to get inside, but none have found a way.”
