The story follows four lifetimes of love. In my first life, I was an unknown little fairy by the Jade Pool. One day, I happened to encounter the aloof Emperor who resided in the highest heavens. Cold and solitary, he knew nothing of love, so every day I found an excuse to tease him: I deliberately brushed his hand when bringing him immortal wine, and secretly watched his eyes while arranging the stars. At last, one day, he pressed me against the edge of the Execution Platform. A dark tide I had never seen before stirred in his eyes as he asked hoarsely, “What is it you want?” I rose on my toes and kissed the corner of his lips. “I want you to fall for me.”
In my second life, I became the most indolent empress in the mortal realm. I usually lounged on my couch and had others read the memorials to me. The only exception was the newly appointed general. Before he marched off to war, I deliberately gave him wine, my fingertips grazing the back of his hand. From atop the city wall, I raised my cup to him from afar. When he turned back on horseback, he nearly fell off. Later, he stood outside my bedchamber all night. At dawn, he opened the door and pulled me into his arms, murmuring, “Your Majesty, I concede.”
In my third life, I was the most audacious demoness in the Demon Realm, sent to kill the world’s greatest demon hunter. But when I saw him standing with his sword drawn amid a shower of peach blossoms, my heart gave an inexplicable lurch. I deliberately landed in front of him and smiled up at him. “I hear you’re the best at killing demons. Why haven’t you struck yet?” His sword hovered at my neck for a long time before slowly lowering. Later, during the great battle between good and evil, I took a fatal blow for him. As I lay in his arms, I whispered, “If there’s another life, would you be willing to be an ordinary mortal, just for me?”
In my fourth life, I was finally reborn as an ordinary orphan in the mortal realm, with no immortal bones,
