In 2025, basketball fan Lin Fang was enjoying all of LeBron James’s GOAT claims and found them a little amusing. He thought that if he ever got the chance, he would ask LeBron James in person what had been going through his mind during Game 4 of the 2011 NBA Finals.
Then his dream came true a little too suddenly. He not only transmigrated, but landed straight on the Miami Heat’s bench during the 2011 NBA Finals, as the 52nd overall pick whom Coach Spoelstra had taken a shine to that year.
Game 4 was underway, LeBron James was struggling again, and the team looked set to lose. Just as Lin Fang was settling in to enjoy the “iconic moment,” Coach Spoelstra waved him over. “Lin Fang, get in there!”
Lin Fang looked at Nowitzki, poised and ready on the other side, then at his own hands, which were supposed to be holding a beer, and burst into tears. “Coach, I’m just an armchair expert!”
But the next second, he stood up. Since he had been thrown into the deep end, he would use this body, with its perfect physical gifts, and his basketball IQ, a decade ahead of its time, to raise the intensity of the game.
