Lu Chen, the top criminal investigation expert of the modern Ministry of Public Security, encountered an accident at a key point in tracking the "Shadow Serial Murder Case" that had troubled him for half his life. When he woke up, he traveled back to Nanjiang Province in 1995 and became a new police academy student with the same name who had just joined the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau.
This is an era without Skynet surveillance, no nationally networked DNA and fingerprint databases, and no information-based investigation methods. Criminal investigation work highly relies on interviews and oral confessions, and a large number of vicious cases have become unsolved due to limitations of technology and concepts. Lu Chen's mind contains thirty years of cutting-edge criminal investigation systems, criminal psychological profiling logic, trace evidence investigation standards, as well as the truth and investigation loopholes of countless unsolved cases.
Faced with the doubts of his peers, technological barriers, and the limitations of the times, Lu Chen never resorted to "foreseeing" tricks. Instead, he disassembled his advanced professional abilities into investigation directions that conformed to the current logic: identifying the murderer's height, weight, and professional characteristics from the neglected shoe print wear marks, restoring the crime psychology and motivation from the victim's wound shape, outlining the murderer's complete profile from seemingly unrelated clues, and finding ironclad evidence to identify the real murderer from the trace evidence that traditional investigation turned a blind eye to.
From the serial home-invasion murders that shocked the city, to the confusing and unsolved cases of corpse dismemberment in the suburbs, from gun-toting gangsters traveling across provinces, to serial perverted killers hiding in the streets, Lu Chen relied on his excellent professional skills to uncover the truth of the cases time and time again in desperate situations. From a marginalized newcomer, he grew into the "ace consultant" that everyone in the Nanjiang police circles dissatisfied with.

Very pretty
Everything was pretty good until chapter 18, when I wrote a sentence where I even knew that the protagonist came through time and space, so this gentleman was not a human but a god. This sentence completely ruined the novel.
