For six years, Xu Zhiyi thought she’d never see him again.
Then her grandmother’s condition became critical, and Xu Zhiyi came to the capital. At the hospital, she saw three words on the directory: Deputy Chief Physician, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Shen Jibai.
The moment the consultation room door opened, their eyes met.
The words she’d prepared, “Hello, Dr. Shen,” caught in her throat. He simply looked at her, as if he wanted to make up for everything that had been missing over the past six years.
“Sit down.” His voice was hoarse.
She suddenly understood: he was nervous too.
That downpour all those years ago, the letter that called itself “breakup money,” the photo of him “getting engaged” to someone else... every blow had left a mark on her heart. She blocked him everywhere overnight and fled alone to the south, taking six years to learn how to let go.
Now that her grandmother’s surgery had succeeded, all she wanted was to make a dignified exit.
But he refused to let her go.
Outside her grandmother’s room, he kept watch late into the night, clutching the hand-drawn anatomy chart she had given him in her first year of college.
When her studio ran into trouble, he quietly fixed everything without taking credit.
Again and again, she told herself she couldn’t let her guard down.
Then her best friend sent her a video.
In it, he tore up his marriage contract in front of everyone and stormed out:
“My wife can only be Xu Zhiyi. Whoever wants this lousy family business can have it!”
At last, she understood. He’d been searching for her like a madman all these years.
Late that night, in the hospital corridor,
she stood behind him, her voice trembling. “Shen Jibai...”
He turned around, eyes bloodshot.
“Xu Zhiyi, I can save the world, but I can’t keep you safe by my side.”
Tears streamed down her face.
Later, he made a ring out of surgical sutures and dropped to one knee.
“Four years in college, six years apart. Every day of the rest of my life belongs to you.”
It's relatively good-looking, but I haven't seen much yet, so I won't comment too much.
Very good very good
