The Regent Consort's Scheme Backfires, Bringing Her Husband Back to Life in a Rage

After dying suddenly from overwork as a Shanghai drifter, Shen Miaoyan wakes up as a bride brought in to bring good fortune to her husband, who is about to die and leave her a widow.

The good news: her husband is the mighty God of War and Prince Regent of Great Yan, with money, looks, and no elders to answer to.

The bad news: he’s been struck by a strange poison, and the imperial physicians say he won’t live more than three days.

Even better news: under Great Yan’s laws, a legitimate wife can inherit thirty percent of her husband’s estate. She’ll be rich enough to retire on the spot!

So every day, Shen Miaoyan leans over his bedside and calls out “tenderly”:

[Rest easy, darling. I’ll spend your money for you and keep eight or ten handsome young men!]

But Prince Regent Xiao Cheng not only survives, he hears every one of her thoughts loud and clear.

When she goes to inspect the accounts, he hears: [Anyone who steals my money dies!]

When she gets into a household power struggle, he hears: [I wonder how much I could sell this poison recipe for?]

Xiao Cheng looks at the teary-eyed woman begging him to hold her, while she schemes over money in her heart, and sneers.

“Want to be a widow? Want to keep a pretty boy? And you want to inherit my estate?”

“Shen Miaoyan, even if I die, I’m dragging you into the coffin with me!”

So who has the upper hand: the star auditor who’s scheming against the Prince Regent, or the cunning King of Hell who’s trapped the little miser?
