If Heaven gave you another chance, what would you do?

Would you keep treading carefully, clinging to safety in a troubled age?

Or would you endure hardship and bide your time, determined to restore the nation?

The Qing and the great powers, the central government and the provinces, governors and imperial authority, Westernization and conservatism, reform and resistance, the Emperor's faction and the Empress Dowager's faction, confrontation and compromise, one man and the people of the world: struggles upon struggles, beset by troubles at home and abroad.

Threats from the northern mainland, incursions from the western oceans, watchful eyes from an eastern island, and unrest on the western frontier.

From general to provincial governor, then governor-general, Minister of Nanyang, Grand Councilor, and First-Class Duke Who Guards the State... He resolves one crisis after another and wins one war after another.

What happened yesterday is happening again today.

But how many can break free of all these shackles?

The green hills remain as ever, while the sunset has come and gone countless times.

In the end, it is all no more than a dream of golden millet.
