I once thought Feiyun Tower was just an ordinary old building, until its ancient wooden beams opened their eyes and foul black blood seeped through the cracks in the walls, flooding over my ankles.
Pinned in place by an invisible force, I watched my companions abandon me in terror. After escaping the rotting ghost’s grasp, I dragged my numb leg through blood that reached my knees and fled inside the tower. I thought I could survive by hiding behind a stone carving in the corridor, but then I witnessed the horrifying moment that ghost’s head turned 180 degrees. The truth was that the most terrifying thing in this world had never been the ghosts themselves, but the despair that grows without limit in people’s hearts.
Only later did I learn that the transformation of Feiyun Tower was just the beginning. The shadows crawling out of beams and statues were merely puppets within the lead ghost’s domain. They were the souls of people tortured to death, and the lead ghost, which fed on fear, was growing stronger with every human breakdown.
When two puppet ghosts drove me to the edge of the corridor and I leaped down, two extraordinary people saved me. They told me that puppets had no will of their own, resentful ghosts clung to unresolved obsessions, and the true threat was the “Fear Feeder” controlling everything.
I went from being an ordinary person to someone who fights ghosts. Through one struggle after another with resentful spirits, I gradually came to understand that killing ghosts is not redemption. Helping them let go of their obsessions is the way home. And the enemy I must face is not only the man-eating ghosts, but also the fear constantly growing inside me.
This is a flight through blood, and a battle against myself.
Super nice new book
