Other people are born to be adored by everyone. Li Jianian is, too, but she’s adored by ghosts.
Li Jianian is a Northeastern woman with a fate so tough she can defy heaven and earth. Her main job is delivering takeout, her side gig is delivering packages, and she also works shifts making milk tea and mixing drinks. She holds down four jobs a day, all for the comforting number in her bank account.
She thought this was just how life would be: delivering food, saving money, and occasionally cursing out customers who left bad reviews. Then one day, she rode her little electric scooter into an alley and stumbled into a vicious ghost’s formation, where a crowd of ghosts hoping to possess her surrounded her. To make matters worse, the customer on the other end of her phone left her a bad review!
In a fit of rage, she grabbed a long staff and beat the ghosts until their souls were scattered. She thought that was the end of it, but then a headless woman in red began haunting her, forcing her to take on the ridiculous job of “finding her head.”
With a ghostly “supervisor” in the trunk of her beat-up van, and a newly appeared uncle who has somehow become her tagalong, she sets off. He has a bizarre way about him, wailing loud enough to shake the heavens, yet he’s ferocious when fighting ghosts.
Even more absurdly, the aloof neighbor across the hall, who is exactly her type, gets dragged into it too...
From Northeast China to Beijing, from caves to underground chambers, the farthest delivery I ever made was finding the head of a ghost who’d been dead for centuries.
