On the outskirts of Linjiang City stands the Tinglan Fishing Grounds.
The owner is Yu Wangji, twenty-seven years old. Every day, he props a bamboo rod, bleached pale from soaking, by the riverbank, then leans back in his chair and dozes. The anglers privately call him the “Skunking Commander.” To his face, they call him “Boss Yu,” and he lazily answers without ever taking offense.
Some say he’s stupid, others that he’s lazy. He just smiles and keeps watching the rod that hasn’t caught a fish in three years.
No one knows that thirty years ago, this bamboo rod once hooked the fortune of an entire sect. No one knows that the young man who dozes every day has reached the seventh realm of Heaven Fishing, “Communion with the Divine.” And no one knows that he’s keeping watch at this run-down fishing ground because he’s waiting for someone.

One bamboo rod, thirty years of old debts, and the grudges of two generations.
Someone asked him, “What exactly are you waiting for?”
He said, “For someone to come collect a debt, for someone to come repay one, and for an answer.”
But when the truth surfaced, he realized he wasn’t waiting for an enemy or an old friend, but for someone he could entrust everything to. And what he wanted to fish up wasn’t a fish, or fortune, or an obsession:
It was
