The Little Treasure Is Cast Out and Left for Dead While Fleeing Famine, Then Grows Rich on Malice

[Cutting Ties with Family + Fleeing Famine + Adorable Child + Beloved by All + No Saintly Heroine]

Tuanbao isn’t this family’s biological child.

On the refugee road, her sexist grandmother traded half a sack of rice for her as “rations,” because a fortune-teller said the girl was born tough and could ward off disaster.

She didn’t ward off disaster, but she sure ate plenty. In a group where even the grass roots were nearly gone, Tuanbao became a burden to the family.

At three years old, she was so starved that she was skin and bones, and was constantly beaten and berated. Then, after they ran out of food yet again, her grandmother pointed at her and said, “This jinx is the reason! Throw her off the cliff as a sacrifice, and we’re sure to find a way to survive!”

Her parents were cowardly, and her uncles and aunts were cold-hearted. Tuanbao was shoved off the cliff without a second thought.

At the brink of death, the pitch-black stone she had found and worn around her neck suddenly grew hot. A cold voice rang out: [Malice Trade System bound. Absorb the malice others feel toward you to exchange for survival supplies. The greater the malice, the better the supplies.]

Tuanbao didn’t die at the bottom of the cliff. When her grandmother’s family believed she was dead and comfortably found a source of water, Tuanbao appeared, limping.

Her grandmother cursed her as a “restless ghost.” [Ding! Received 10 malice points. Redeemed for one moldy steamed bun.]

Her aunt cursed, “Why don’t you just die?” [Ding! Received 20 malice points. Redeemed for one packet of medicinal herbs for treating injuries.]

Tuanbao understood. So their hatred was the food that kept her alive.

She didn’t cry or complain. She simply followed behind the family in silence, revealing all their ugliness.

The more they cursed her, the better her life became. She could even help other poor refugees.

Meanwhile, that family, consumed by their own malice and selfishness, fell apart step by step.
