The story begins on the eve of World War II, when a German military cadet meets a Chinese girl in Berlin. Later, during the war, they grow up and think about the world, miss each other, and love each other. Even though the world finally falls into darkness and the light of freedom and democracy is crumbling, they still love each other. In the end, they awaken spiritually to break through the darkness.
