Qi Xuan, a once-renowned surgeon brought low by a medical malpractice case, crushing debt, and the betrayal of everyone around him, tries to end his life in an abandoned hospital on the edge of the city. But the "endpoint" he chooses is precisely where the most basic paranormal incident, the Echo Corridor, first erupts. As he teeters on the brink of death, an interface called the [Paranormal Dissection System] activates in his consciousness.
The System turns the indescribable horror into data: ghosts have "contamination levels," "core rules," and "weakness exposure rates"; missions have clear "survival objectives," "analysis requirements," and "reward points." Rewards can be exchanged for skills such as "Spirit Sight," "Sanity Lock," and "Cursed Object Crafting," or used to enhance his physical attributes. With the System's "Initial Analysis" ability and his own exceptional medical expertise, Qi Xuan uses near-cold-blooded rationality to dissect the mechanics of the Echo Corridor as if performing a complex operation, and narrowly makes it out alive.
From then on, he becomes a lone "cleaner" operating outside official control and between the cracks of powerful factions, codenamed "Raven." He takes contracts, ventures into restricted zones, deals with paranormal incidents, and trades information and rare "cursed objects," using the resources and System points he earns to arm himself. Hidden in his battered off-road vehicle are the medical malpractice records that destroyed his life. They contain a vague lead pointing to a forbidden neurobiology study conducted before the "Calamity," which may be the origin of all these horrors.
The content is very good and thoughtful, the characters are well drawn, and each chapter is quite large. It's very enjoyable to read.
