Introduction to "Under the Dome of Ice"
In 2075 AD, the sun went out prematurely, the earth fell into eternal night, and the temperature plummeted to minus 60 degrees.
Xu Lie, a 63-year-old Juta engineer, witnessed his father freezing to death on the balcony when he was a child because he predicted that "the sun will only have twenty years left." Thirty years later, he was ordered to go to an ice city that was instantly frozen to find key materials for building the "Ark Spaceship".
There, he discovered 180,000 corpses sealed under the ice, as well as an ancient virus whose genes had been artificially edited. Hidden in the virus is a warning from twenty years in the future: the sun will be completely extinguished in twenty years, and the only way for mankind to survive is to build a spaceship to escape from the earth within twenty years.
This warning was sent back by "them" in the future at the cost of killing 180,000 ancestors, hidden in their genes.
Xu Lie spent the rest of his life building the "Ark". When the spacecraft carried the survivors to Proxima Centauri, he was left alone on the dying Earth.
"We are all water in the same river," the virus reads, "flowing and flowing to where it should go."
When the sun no longer rises, the only light for mankind is the fire passed between each other's hands.
