The Day the Flowers Never Bloom

He was once the golden phoenix who flew out of a remote mountain village. Clutching his admission letter, he thought he could bring his mother, who had suffered for half her life, out of the mountains. He thought he could build a stable life for himself in a city of steel and concrete.

But from the moment he stepped through that family’s door, the gears of fate turned toward the mire.

In three years of marriage, he was a tool drained of every drop of sweat and blood, a punching bag for everyone’s abuse.

His father died, his mother was left paralyzed, his marriage fell apart, and he became mired in lawsuits. In desperate straits, he gave way again and again, only to be pushed toward an even deeper abyss. When the second-instance ruling drove him to the brink, he finally clenched his fist and launched a last-ditch fightback at the edge of the cliff.

This is the story of an ordinary man struggling through hardship and standing firm against injustice. There is no easy road strewn with flowers, no sudden stroke of luck, only a man named Lu Sheng, who grits his teeth and bears the pain through the darkest days, step by step reclaiming the justice that is his due. He protects his mother by the kang and becomes his own light.

The day flowers bloom is also the day of rebirth.

May everyone bearing life’s burdens find a glimmer of light in the darkness and new life in their darkest hour.
