Food blogger Shen Wantang wakes up to find herself the sickly daughter of a widow outside Bianjing, the Northern Song capital. She has no golden finger and no System, just her own two hands and a head full of modern food knowledge.
But she soon discovers that Bianjing in this era is much more charming than she'd imagined. At dawn, the morning market on East Cross Street is alive with steam and bustle. The lights of Zhou Bridge's night market shine until the third watch. Storytellers in the theaters spin fresh tales, the elderly neighbor teaches her to recognize wild greens, and the vegetable seller saves the freshest shepherd's purse for her.
Starting with a bowl of wonton soup, she sets up a little stall on a street corner. Before long, regular customers gather there: poor scholars preparing for the imperial exams, acrobats from the theaters, veteran soldiers on night patrol, and young ladies with a taste for good food... There's also a young official who always sits in the corner drinking wonton soup, his face seemingly cold and unreadable.
He doesn't know that she remembers him. During the Lantern Festival that year, some hoodlums harassed her in an alley, but when he happened to pass by and glance their way, they scattered. She doesn't know that he remembers her too. That young lady who cowered in a corner by the wall that night now smiles with crescent-shaped eyes, makes delicious wontons, and has a steady hand when adding chili.
As the days go by, the little stall becomes a shop, and the shop becomes a restaurant. From a chance encounter over a bowl of wonton soup, they slowly find their way to a life together over a bowl of rice.
Overall, the description is good, but the characters are too flat. However, I feel that the author wanted to stand up the characters in the later stage, but it was a bit too abrupt, because the characters in the early stages were very bland, and the heroine seemed to have no personality. It was bland (as did the male protagonist) and suddenly adding personality to him in the later stage would look a bit abrupt. But the overall text is okay. Well, and I don't know why the author's language for the dialogue between the characters and the male and female protagonists is very brief, and sometimes he only says one word, and sometimes he doesn't say more, and then this part is a bit hard to understand. Why is it to create the character image? Anyway, it doesn't look that good.
Good looking!!! Author update soon!!! I like this kind of writing that smells like human fireworks! People who watch it feel at ease! It's plain and heartwarming, the writing is good and the content is beautiful!!! [Learned][Learned][Learned]
It's obvious that this is a very new author. The words describing the characters go back and forth a few times, which is a bit empty. The description of food is pretty good. I originally gave it three stars. I hope the new author can encourage me.
It's pretty good to watch. The subject matter is really good. I was a little angry at the beginning. As for the part with grandma, the heroine was really unsophisticated or a little ungrateful at the beginning, but then she slowly changed and became more humane. The character of the fourth girl was not very likable, but it got better later on. When the princess refused to marry and the merchant donated money, the heroine donated money. This part was really interesting.
Full of details, full of small blessings
It's okay. The more you watch it, the more interesting it becomes.
Although there are some shortcomings in the process of listening to the book, it is also refreshing. It is not easy to create, and I hope that the author will have better works and give five-star praise!
I watched it by accident, it's very nice.
It's very cozy for daily use, suitable for eating or relaxing when you're stressed.
The writing is good, and the life of a little person is very popular.
