Chengyu High School, a leading school in Qinglin City, has a 60-year history and the city’s highest college admission rate. It publicly touts “civility, discipline, and silence as a virtue,” yet for years it has harbored a notorious bullying gang: the “Young Master Chen Gang,” led by Jiang Chen, the school board chairman’s son. Their target is Lin Wanxing, a shy girl from an ordinary family.
To protect its admission rate and ties with the school board chairman, the administration covers up the abuse from beginning to end. Classmates stay silent to protect themselves, and teachers turn a blind eye. In the end, Lin Wanxing is bullied to death in the girls’ restroom on the fourth floor of the senior-year teaching building, in stall 404. After her death, Jiang Chen and the others disguise it as a “suicide” and threaten the entire school into silence. From then on, Chengyu High School becomes known as the “Silent School.”
Three years later, transfer student Su Qingran, a sensitive girl who can see spirits and carries childhood trauma from witnessing bullying without daring to speak up, joins Class 7 of the senior year at Chengyu High School. By chance, she is seated in Lin Wanxing’s former place, and soon becomes entangled in a series of terrifying supernatural events. Forced to uncover the truth about the bullying and death three years earlier, she takes on the school, the perpetrators, and the silent bystanders. In the end, she lays the restless spirit to rest and breaks the curse of silence.
