An alien fleet arrives on Earth, but launches no attack. Their leader announces to humanity: Play a basketball game. If you win, Earth survives. If you lose, your civilization is wiped out.
Humanity takes no chances. They assemble twelve of the strongest active players, including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Victor Wembanyama, to form a World Team. Everyone thinks it's an exhibition match, until the whistle blows.
The alien players are towering and immensely strong. Even more terrifying, they can use telekinesis to control the basketball and hoop at will. Humanity is utterly crushed, and the point gap keeps growing.
Just as all hope seems lost, Chen Shisan of the Chinese team steps forward. No one knows that on the first day the aliens arrived, he encountered a fugitive alien who gave him telekinetic powers and a mysterious device that can suppress an opponent's superpowers at a crucial moment.
When mortals borrow the power of gods to fight the divine, and a buzzer-beater in the final second decides humanity's fate, Earth cannot lose this game.
