The Compound’s Two Tyrants Head to the Countryside, and the Whole Village Begs for Forgiveness

[Period Setting + Two Strong Female Leads + Light Ensemble Cast + Building a Fortune]

Shen Chuhe and Lin Xingman were notorious little hellions in the Beijing military compound. After causing one too many scenes, their elders banished them to Kaoshantun, the most remote village in Heilongjiang, to “reform.”

They were expected to wail and protest, but Shen Chuhe's mind had already been replaced by that of a modern-day career-driven workaholic who had died from overwork. Along with her cousin Lin Xingman, whose fighting skills were off the charts, she launched a brutal campaign of overwhelming force.

When the village's old bachelors harassed them, they broke their legs and tossed them into the snow.

When a scheming educated youth tried to sabotage them, they sneaked out in the middle of the night to slash her floral polyester dress and smash her face cream.

Earn work points?

Why bother when they could snare wild boars in the hills and trade them on the black market for bundles of cash?

Snow shuts off the mountain roads?

Perfect timing to make a fortune selling mountain goods!

Step by step, the two built their lives from the ground up in the 1970s, with no internet or golden finger, relying on courage and military-style combat skills to turn Kaoshantun into a thriving success. When their brothers drove up from Beijing in jeeps to take them home, they found that their sisters had become famous factory directors, with a line of suitors stretching all the way to the village entrance.
