Reborn as a Bride in the Northern Frontier: The Tough Commander Is a Hot Catch

In 1975, the Gu twins face a choice between being sent to the countryside and getting married. The older sister, Gu Meili, hears that her arranged match, Lu Zheng, is a rough, hot-tempered man stationed at the border. So she schemes to have her soft-spoken younger sister, Gu Qingyao, take her place, while she tries every trick to catch the eye of a factory official in the city.

With a knot of anxiety in her stomach, Gu Qingyao boards the northbound train, carrying a battered suitcase. When she first meets Lu Zheng, he stands tall and straight as a pine. Though his expression is stern, the first thing he does after they get off the train is drape his only military coat over her shoulders. Gu Qingyao expects a marriage of convenience, but never imagines that Lu Zheng will cherish her with all his heart. From a cramped single dorm room to the bustling military compound, Gu Qingyao fills the whole courtyard with delicious aromas from her iron pot, and completely warms the heart of the stone-faced officer. When Gu Meili, miserable in the city and full of regret, finally comes looking for her, she finds the supposedly “violent” man rolling up his sleeves by the compound well, washing Gu Qingyao’s undergarments with tenderness in his eyes.
