Mountain Shadows and Long Winds

Li Xiaomu, a country boy from a mountain village, believes hard work can make up for a lack of talent and studies his way into university. His wealthy roommate, Chen Fan, uses borrowed tuition money to start a business and becomes financially independent before graduation. Ten years after they graduate, Li Xiaomu has paid off his loans and can barely get by in a government job, while Chen Fan is already financially free and traveling the world. After failing to get promoted, Li Xiaomu finally sees the truth: what poor families pass down is not just material hardship, but limitations in the way they think. He changes course, combining his workplace experience with business thinking, and eventually returns home to run a thinking-skills program, opening up new possibilities for more children in the mountains.
