Strange Records of Journey to the West: Eighty-One Trials of Rules-Based Horror

Lin Mo, a modern man, unexpectedly transmigrates to the world of Journey to the West, only to discover that it is shrouded in eerie rules. The pilgrimage is no longer a matter of earning merit through cultivation. It has become a survival game in which the rules of the eighty-one trials must be followed to the letter. Whenever the master and his disciples enter a new area, a stone stele inscribed with rules and glowing with bloody light appears in the sky. Violating even one rule will unleash an indescribable terrifying presence.

The monsters here are no longer mere physical threats. Each one has its own domain governed by special rules: Lady White Bone’s three-question reincarnation, Red Boy’s Samadhi True Fire curse, the Spider Demon’s web contract... Even Sun Wukong’s Fiery Golden Eyes have been twisted by the rules, and every use comes at the cost of worsening eyesight. More frightening still, Lin Mo discovers that he can see the “Remnant Pages of the Strange Records” hidden behind the rules. Those yellowed pages reveal truths that overturn everything he knows: the entire world of Journey to the West is nothing more than a testing ground for rules, created by some mighty being!
