Five hundred years ago, a "Great Wish Silence" engulfed the old world, and countless creatures turned into "nightmares" that were neither human nor ghosts due to their deep obsession. Today the survivors live in the last seven city-states protected by the "Wish Bell". The protagonist Yun Gu is a low-level "soul carver" who makes a living by carving the last wishes of the deceased. He was born unable to make wishes and was called a "wishless person", but was told by the mysterious organization that only he could carry all the forgotten wishes in the world, and the price was to become the new "Wish Bell" core furnace. When the seventh wish bell begins to crack, Yun Gu is forced to be involved in a conspiracy that spans five hundred years: the so-called Great Wish Silence is actually an attempt by someone to use the wishes of hundreds of millions of living beings to resurrect a long-lost god. He must find the "writer" who wrote the original wish before he is overwhelmed by his wish.
