Ling Shuang, a doctoral student in archeology, discovered a secret text on the belly of the Leshan Giant Buddha, confirming that the statue was originally a monument to Emperor Yu's flood control. She triggered a rift in time and space during the decryption, and together with the retired soldier Lei Feng, they fell into the "history rift layer" - a parallel time and space distorted by civilizational tampering.
The two discovered that behind the spread of Buddhism was the millennium conspiracy of the "Alliance of Historians": they weakened the spirit of "man can conquer nature" symbolized by Dayu, and implanted the idea of obeying reincarnation. What is even more astonishing is that the Journey to the West story is actually a metaphorical record of real historical events: Sun Wukong is the incarnation of the stone monkey at the bottom of the river when Dayu was controlling the floods, and Tang Monk is actually a descendant of the "stelekeeper" who guards the historical truth.
Lei Feng and Ling Shuang reunited with the awakened Sun Wukong, Bajie, and Sha Seng on their way westward. When Bajie revealed that he was originally Marshal Tianpeng, he had witnessed the covenant between Tathagata and Dayu; Sha Monk's skull necklace was actually a "memory relic" that recorded the ancient truth. However, Tang Seng had already lost his original intention in reincarnation and became Jin Chanzi, the puppet of the usurper of history.
When everyone arrived at the secret realm of the Buddha, they saw the Tathagata's golden body split open, revealing the true appearance of the stone statue of Dayu inside. It turns out that Tathagata was a comrade of Yu the Great who controlled floods. He transformed into a Buddha statue to protect the truth, but his teachings were distorted by the usurpers of history. The final battle takes place in the historical rift. Lei Feng uses modern technology to restart the "Nine Cauldrons of Time and Space" left by Dayu, while Ling Shuang uses archaeological knowledge to repair the fault lines in civilization. Sun Wukong smashed the false scriptures with a stick, and the true scriptures turned into golden light, reappearing the water control map of "Yu Gong"...
This adventure through mythology is not only a test of love and faith, but also a magnificent return to the original spirit of Chinese civilization.
