The Apocalypse Is Here, But I'm Playing Plants Vs. Zombies

One male lead + one female lead + System (Plants vs. Zombies fan fiction). This is my first work, so if there's anything you don't like, please feel free to point it out. I hope you'll give it a try, and I welcome all your feedback and criticism.

Eighteen-year-old Wei Lingtian was killed by the Zombie King's minions during the apocalypse in his previous life. His greatest regret before he died was failing to protect his childhood friend, Su Ling. Filled with endless remorse, he was reborn one day before the apocalypse began, on March 15. The Savior Corporation's “Evolution Serum” had yet to be distributed, and the zombie virus had not swept across the globe.

At the same time as his rebirth, the black ring he'd picked up activated the Plants vs. Zombies System. Seeds for plants such as Sunflowers and Peashooters gave him the confidence to fight the zombies. Determined to protect Su Ling, Wei Lingtian went all in: he mortgaged the old house his parents had left him, took out loans from loan sharks, and frantically raised money. He raced between wholesale markets, supermarkets, and hardware stores, stockpiling food, medicine, weapons, and everyday supplies.

He found a mountain-side farmhouse that was easy to defend and hard to attack, then spent a fortune reinforcing it and modifying vehicles and installing water purification equipment, all to give Su Ling a safe haven. After they reunited, the two resolved the misunderstandings that had weighed on them for ten years, confessed their feelings, and promised to face the apocalypse side by side.

But one crisis followed another. The threats from loan shark Scarface Qiang, the zombie horde that erupted ahead of schedule, and the Zombie King's hidden scheme all tested the young couple. Armed with his memories from his previous life and the plant System, Wei Lingtian swore to defy fate, keep Su Ling safe, and build an army of plants to carve out a place for them to survive in the fallen world.
