This is a story about companionship, growth, and two people choosing each other.
At the 2017 Asian Youth Championships, sixteen-year-old Sun Yingsha and seventeen-year-old Wang Chuqin played mixed doubles together for the first time. By then, Wang Chuqin was already a rising star being groomed by the Chinese national team. Though he came from a well-off family, he never flaunted it, and his features carried the distinctive pride of youth. Sun Yingsha, meanwhile, was a little “bean bun” who had come up through the Hebei team. With her round, harmless-looking face, she seemed sweet and innocent, but on the court she was as fierce as a little cannon. No one could have imagined that this young pair would go on to weather both lows and highs together, becoming irreplaceable in each other’s lives.
