Synopsis: Beiye has once again dreamed of that scroll. In his dream, the Qin script wriggles as if alive, gradually forming the cryptic words, “The sword lies hidden on Mount Li, sealed by blood.” While sorting through Qin bamboo slips at the archaeological institute, he discovers a scrap of silk that matches his dream exactly. When Mu Yan appears carrying a bronze pendant, she tells Beiye it is the token of the sword’s guardian.
Following the scroll’s clues, they enter the mountains, where shadows, black-scaled beasts, tomb guardians, and other dangers stalk them at every turn. When they reach a cliff face, a thousand-year-old message echoes in Beiye’s mind. His dreams, it turns out, have been guiding him all along, their course set a thousand years ago. And so the story begins...
