Step by step, he climbs higher,

from coroner to county commandant, judicial commissioner, judicial inspector, and finally a senior court official.

In the end, he is enfeoffed as a marquis and appointed chancellor, wielding power as he reforms the military and purges corrupt officials.

He puts down the four great bandit forces of Liangshan, Fang La, Tian Hu, and Wang Qing,

and brings down the four treacherous ministers Cai Jing, Tong Guan, Gao Qiu, and Yang Jian.

He secures the borders, trains a powerful army, holds back the Jin forces, and changes the fate of the empire,

using everything he has learned to prop up the crumbling realm of the Great Song.
