My Years on the Path to Daoism

This novel is purely for entertainment. Any resemblance to real events is coincidental. The story is fictional and not aimed at anyone. All characters, names, and locations are made up. I was once a retired special forces soldier who served my country, but my wife's obsession with “spiritual masters” sent my life spiraling out of control.

To uncover the truth, I traveled far and wide, seeking out folk mediums and fortune-tellers. In the end, disillusioned, I retreated to the mountains and went to Sanqing Temple to seek the Dao.

I thought it would be a peaceful refuge from the world, but it was full of human warmth and coldness, fame, and rivalry.

Fortunately, the reclusive Master Shuangmu took pity on me, secretly passing down the orthodox alchemical tradition and giving me the Daoist name Cheng Yi.

That also drew me into the temple's disputes, until I finally broke away. Later, I met Master He of the Zhengyi school, who taught me ritual ceremonies and rites. Eventually, I began conducting rituals of my own.

From Quanzhen alchemy to Zhengyi magic,

this is the true story of a tough man seeking the Dao, a real journey he carved out with sweat and tears amid faith and reality, sincerity and hypocrisy.
