The story takes place on the border of the Golden Realm of the Five Elements Continent. The protagonist Jing Xuanhuang, a 52-year-old middle-aged monk who carries the memories of many deceased scientific masters due to forbidden experiments, wakes up in an abandoned ancient observatory. He has no spiritual roots, but because of the knowledge in his memory, he found a new way. Based on the "Dayan Sutra" and combined with scientific thinking, he started the path of cultivating immortality by transforming his own microcirculation (marrow cleansing and hair removal). While traveling in the Wood Territory, he met "Su Wen", a medical fairy who had to hunt for his clan's inner elixir because his clan was suffering from "Chaos Returning Poison". He tried to find the antidote with his knowledge of biochemistry, but this led to a conflict with the down-and-out leader "Tie Guanzi" who was fighting for resources to revitalize the sect. Jing Xuanhuang's "technological cultivation of immortality" concept - such as standardized alchemy, industrialization of psychic formations, and open source sharing of knowledge - gradually attracted a group of colleagues, shook the monopoly foundation of the traditional sect, and became involved in the orthodoxy dispute sweeping the five domains.
