"Fengyang Family" is set in Fengyang countryside in the 1938s. It tells the story of veterinarian Lu Huaian and his wife Wang Chunmei, who led their family through the establishment of a cooperative, three years of famine, sent-down educated youth to the countryside, family planning, and the resumption of college entrance examinations. Through the growth, marriage, and choices of the Lu family's children, as well as the joys and sorrows of the neighbors, the work vividly depicts the tenacity, wisdom, and warmth of ordinary Chinese farmers in the grand historical changes.
