My grandma and I are sixty years apart.
I am the child she raised with wrinkles and tenderness, the brightest light in her old age, and the distance she cares most about in her life.
But as I grew up, I was willful, rebellious, and negligent again and again. I reserved my worst temper for the person who loved me the most. I said many hurtful words and did many things that made her sad. I always think that the future is long, and I always want to make up for it later, but I don't know that time never waits for anyone.
The night before my zodiac year when I was twenty-four, I had a dream that I will never forget.
In the dream, there was a dark wind and little devils were rushing toward me. Grandma held my hand tightly and used her crutch that had been with her for half her life to try her best to fight off all dangers for me.
After beating the last kid, she gently let me go, her voice gentle and decisive:
"Grandma will help you get here from now on."
One word becomes a prophecy.
The next day, grandma suddenly fell seriously ill.
The moment the thin oxygen mask was gently removed, I realized that some farewells come without warning, and some debts can never be repaid.
It turns out that the most painful thing in life is that she spent her whole life protecting me growing up, but I failed to accompany her to old age; it was she who tried her best to protect me from disaster in my dreams, but I can no longer even utter a solemn apology.
That crutch, that dream, that moment when I took off the mask became lessons that I will never learn or let go of in my life——
Teach me how to miss and teach me how to coexist with regret.
