Chen Xiao raised his head. The prison van rolled over on the side of the road, and one wheel rolled far away. The two officers were hurriedly pulling the frightened horse, covered in mud and in a miserable state.
His legs were pinned down by the frame and he couldn't move. But he noticed that the door of the prison van was opened and the wooden shackles were unlocked.
He can run.
Two guards were three feet away, with their backs to him, competing with the horses. The rain is heavy and the vision is poor. If he crawls into the grass on the roadside on his stomach...
Chen Xiao didn't move.
He glanced at his legs - they were pressed by the frame, and he couldn't run fast even if he climbed out. How far can you run? Two miles away? Three miles? Then he was caught and his crime was increased.
If you don't run, you are betting on the unknown. If you run, you are betting that you will lose.
He lay back in the mud and closed his eyes.
Guard A came over cursing and kicked him: "You're not dead, are you?"
Chen Xiao opened his eyes and looked at him.
Officer A was stunned for a moment - his eyes were not like those of a death row prisoner, but rather frighteningly calm. But he didn't think much. He bent down to lift the frame of the bicycle and shouted to Officer B: "Come here and help me! Get this guy out!"
The two of them dragged Chen Xiao out from under the car frame. Officer B checked the prison car and said with an ugly face: "The axle is broken and the wheel hub is cracked. It cannot be repaired."
"What should we do?"
