A Love Across a Thousand Years: The Pharaoh's Beloved Concubine

★ Ancient Egyptian pharaoh × modern girl who transmigrates ★ Both are inexperienced ★ Unhinged, possessive love ★ Tormented romance ★ An unexpected transmigration sweeps An Qin, a modern woman, into the ancient and mysterious land of Egypt. She awakens in the bedchamber of Pharaoh He Jinzhao, a young ruler rumored to have no interest in women. Yet he shows her an unprecedented, obsessive possessiveness. From forcing her to change clothes and punishing her with intimacy to imprisoning her deep within the palace, He Jinzhao uses brutal means to declare that An Qin belongs to him. Through countless moments of resistance and submission, An Qin tries to escape, only to be captured again and again by He Jinzhao, who treats her even more cruelly each time. When she’s on the brink of death, he insists on bringing her back to life. Inside and outside the palace, the noblewoman Nifei’s jealousy and the High Priest Yuan Mo’s schemes thrust An Qin into the center of a storm. Accused of being a “witch,” she narrowly escapes being burned at the stake. Yet before everyone’s eyes, He Jinzhao declares her his queen, his bloodied body bearing witness as he stakes his life on defending her position. Just as An Qin thinks their relationship might finally turn around, He Jinzhao loses his memory because of the gods’ will. He sees her as a “sacrifice” and lets Yuan Mo keep her under house arrest. In a dark side chamber, An Qin draws portraits of He Jinzhao. In despair, she tries to kill herself with a golden dagger, but Yuan Mo stops her and tells her she must forget the man. Yet He Jinzhao’s instincts drive him to appear once more. He drives Yuan Mo away and takes An Qin back under his control. He harshly punishes her for being “defiant” and forcibly kisses her wounds, but when he discovers the portraits she has secretly drawn, confusion and vulnerability surface beneath the depths of his expression. A high fever leads An Qin to mistake the amnesiac pharaoh for “A Chao.”
