The Qiongjiang River in northern Guizhou has flowed through sixteen years, and also through Ren Zhiyuan's entire life. From the high-spirited deputy mayor to the ordinary clerk who has fallen to the bottom, from the confusion in the rental house in the Pearl River Delta, to the silence in the village and mountains, from an unexpected heartbeat to a dull relationship, he has gone through the highs and lows, met the people who are interested, and lost himself, but in the end, he found the answer to life in the daily fireworks.
This is not an inspirational story about a comeback, but a record of an ordinary person's life. There is no earth-shattering plot, only the cold and humid evening breeze in the small town in northern Guizhou, the sparkling light on the banks of the Qiongjiang River, and the sadness, confusion, tenderness and reconciliation hidden in the fireworks. Ren Zhiyuan's life is the epitome of every ordinary person around you and me - we have all struggled in life, hesitated before making choices, felt regretful after loss, but finally learned to reconcile with ourselves and embrace life over the years.
The river flows forever, and so does life. The roads we have traveled, the people we have met, and the hardships we have experienced will eventually turn into the strength to move forward, allowing us to walk steadily and live well in ordinary days. The most precious happiness is always hidden in the simple phrase "go home for dinner" and in the smoke and smoke of a family spending time together.
