Zhu Di: I Predicted the Jingnan Rebellion from the Start, and Old Zhu Was Stunned

He wakes up as Zhu Di, Prince of Yan, only to have history reveal his fate: twenty years from now, during the Jingnan Campaign, he will be burned to a charred corpse and cursed for all eternity.

In the Hall of Supreme Harmony, he refuses the order to go to Beiping right in front of Zhu Yuanzhang, furiously blurting out the future: “Father, you’re sending me to my death!”

The whole court erupts. He is stripped of his status on the spot, renamed “Zhu Ergou,” and banished to Black Cloud Village to farm.

But who could have guessed that this “fallen prince” would make a life for himself in the muddy fields? He builds irrigation channels and saves people from drought, until the common folk kneel and call him a living Buddha.

What’s even crazier is that Xu Miaoyun, daughter of a founding hero, tears up their marriage contract in public, storms into the Qianqing Palace, and roars at the imperial throne: “I’m marrying Zhu Ergou, not the Prince of Yan!”

Zhu Yuanzhang is so furious he spits blood. Lan Yu surrounds the village with troops, and Empress Ma slaps the prince across the face…

Just when everyone thinks he has truly decided to lie flat, he smiles softly at the moon from the ridge between the fields:

“Father, you think cutting off my crown can break my spirit?”
