In the third year of Daye under the Sui dynasty, Pei Shiju throws the full weight of the empire into the Western Regions, stirring up a storm. The century-old foundations of the five great Hu merchant families teeter amid court intrigue and tribal warfare. Lin Yue, a longtime fan of Blades of the Guardians, accidentally transmigrates into this war-torn land and binds himself to the [Escort of the Turbulent Times System]. At first, all he wants is to stay alive and quietly protect A Yuya. But as he watches Old Mo give his life to defend the Silk Road’s creed of neutrality, A Yuya bear the burden of her family’s blood feud alone, and merchants and commoners displaced from their homes, he finally understands the true meaning of “escort”: those who travel a thousand miles protect more than just their clients. They protect the justice in their hearts, the faint light that refuses to go out in troubled times.
He and A Yuya travel side by side, forging a life-and-death pact amid flashing blades. Together, they rally members of the five great families who have held fast to their principles, and fight their way to survival amid the power struggle between the Sui, the Eastern and Western Turks, and Tuyuhun. He builds up the Western Regions and reopens the Silk Road, protecting traveling merchants and bringing peace to the people of the desert. In a world that devours the weak, he gives those with nowhere left to turn a place to call home. From a transmigrator who only wanted to survive, to a chivalrous hero who holds to the way of the escort, and finally to an emperor who unifies the realm and protects its people, Lin Yue journeys from the yellow sands of Mojia Village to the palaces of Chang’an. A Yuya, too, grows from a desert girl bent on revenge into a partner who stands shoulder to shoulder with Lin Yue on the escort road. In the end, she becomes the revered ruler of the Western Regions, standing with him as empress to safeguard their vast realm. Guided by the way of the escort and devoted to the common people, the two carve a path to a brighter future through the chaos at the end of the Sui dynasty, perfectly embodying the ideal that “the greatest heroes fight for their country and its people.”
Not bad, looks good so far
This is the first time I read this type of novel, and I watched the movie during the Chinese New Year to chase the money. The author's plot is coherent, and I feel eager to continue reading it. Please update it soon.
